DJ Burn One brings us White Jesus and Joints

DJ Burn One was extremely busy in 2010 and both mixed and produced 2 of my favorite albums(mixtape or not) of last year; Yelawolf's Trunk Muzik and Starlito - Renaissance Gangster.
DJ Burn One pretty much only works with the best out there, whether you've heard them yet or not. His first 2 mixtapes of 2011 are no exception, the first being a mixtape/compilation that DJ Burn One has put together and acts as a Burn One solo album. If you like the current state of Alabama rap and the ways in which it crosses over with Atlanta you should have downloaded this already. Guests include Freddie Gibbs, Pill, Young Buck, Starlito, Rittz, KD, Jackie Chain, etc.

The second mixtape (I think it came out 4 days later) is Rittz - White Jesus. Rittz was on Yelawolf's breakout mixtape Trunk Muzik last year, and Yelwolf more than returns the favor here as he guests a couple of times as well as executive produced the mixtape and directed the first music video from it. Rittz goes really hard constantly and has a rapid-style flow that's always to the benefit of the overall song and doesn't sound like he's just trying to prove that he can rap so fast. He's got a rural Georgia and rural 'Bama style flow but he's probably influenced by some Bone, Three 6 Mafia and maybe some Biggie. Rittz' flow is riculously well formed already and I imagine he will blow up in some small extent within 2 months following South by SouthWest, much as Yelawolf did last year. Both DJ Burn One and Rittz seem to have well-matched and wide-spread music influences(and I know Yelawolf does, who obviously played a big part in White Jesus). Along with Yelawolf, guests on White Jesus include 8ball, Big Krit and Shawty Fatt.

Classic Jurrarri

Mixtapes aside, this is one of my favorite rap albums of the past 5 years, period. This mixtape has great beats and the only 2 "gibberish" tracks I've ever heard on a mixtape/album. Also, there appeared to be 2 different covers for this mixtape depending on whether you got it from mixtapetorrent.com or datpiff.com. I think I prefer the MixtapeTorrent one (above) as Jurrarri shows that he is too cool even for his own photo shoot, taking his time to text and see if anything else is going on.

I can't believe you missed that show

Although a lot of times rap performances are lacking due in part to the fact that all of the music was made while sitting down and generally doesn't involve live instrumentation in the final mix, I really would have liked to have seen Wiz Khalifa and Yelawolf performing last weekend--but of course I had to work anyway and I'm about as broke as ever.
Wiz Khalifa is the best rapper out of Pittsburgh right now (I know that that doesn't sound great, but think of it this way; he is well respected in the south and I also say "Bone is the best rap group out of Cleveland" and they're pretty much the best there is period) and is probably the most stoned rapper in the entire midwest to east-coast region. He's super laid back and happy to tell you how wonderful his life is, which mostly does sound pretty awesome. He released this mixtape in time for 4/20 this past year:

Yelawolf is one of multiple rappers who have been making a name for themselves lately out of Alabama (he really blew up after his songs with Juelz Santana (video) and Slim Thug (video Yelawolf isn't in for some reason) and his SXSW show this past year). He is an extremely talented vocalist who sounds something like a combination of Bone Thugs style vocals, southern rap from Houston to Huntsville, and Pink Floyd-style psychedelia.

'Rarri been had hot mixtapes. Jurrarri is easily one of my favorite rappers right now, not to mention one of my favorite youtube posters. He also has some great album covers, my favorite being his mixtape prior to this one.
Every single track on Jurrarri The Kid Part 4 is good (I don't even mind the talking interludes), but the real standout songs for me are: I Go Bananas, Do Me, I'm Racing, J.U.R.R.A.R.R.I., 2010 Everything, My My My, & Jurrarri Going Loco.  Jurrarri the Kid pt. 4 has great bass and lots of it, but unfortunately no gibberish tracks. I don't think any more are coming--it's been 2.5 mixtapes now.

Download it! I think this was Lil Mook's 9th mixtape of 2009, released late in the year. Lil Mook could in some ways be compared to Jurrarri a.k.a. Ju a.k.a. Ju Ferrarri a.k.a. 'Rrarri, and Ju is on one of my favorite tracks on this mixtape; "Walked In tha Spot". I also especially liked "No Im Not Futuristick" feat. Trapmob, "Bands In The Sofa" feat. Jigg, "What About You", "Crazy" feat Darryl J & Cran Neely and "Wake Up To The Trap" feat. Lethal GK. Really there there aren't too many skippers on here.
If you don't know, Lil Mook has a fairly simplistic yet zone-y flow and mainly raps about things like how crazy his shoe game is, but in that 1017 Bricksquad way of rapping with confidence that makes people who hear him quickly form a strong opinion on him. Also, he's usually about this excited on his mixtape covers.
